This week I interviewed 5 different people about a topic generally related to an opportunity that I believe exists. I believe there is a problem concerning charging cords for technological devices, whether it be a cell phone, computer, or iPod. Charging cords have proven to not withstand the test of time; they fray and break; they lose their integrity and they have to be held at all sorts of crazy angles just so I can charge my phone. Something must be done regarding the durability of chargers, and their tangling tendencies. Everyone faces this problem, especially college kids. A broken charging cord can really kill your chances of studying.
Here are the questions I asked:
1. Are you an Apple product user?
2. Do you have a hard time keeping all your cords from getting tangled?
3. What has been your experience in terms of the charging cord's durability? Does it last over time or does it break?
4. Is there anything you wish you could change about your charging cord?
By interviewing, I realized new aspects that I could incorporate into new charging cords. Customers suggested ideas like a universal cord for all of a company's products, or even giving cords slinky like qualities so they are easier to maintain. I had never thought that interviewing customers could expand your opportunities and potential ideas. My opportunity idea has room for change, but with customers' feedback, I know that I can alter my product to suit consumer needs.
Interviewing people also made me realize that some people can be more uncomfortable but some people are very comfortable. For example, in the 5th interview posted, the girl I interviewed was very comfortable laughing in front of the camera and she was even joking with me and saying ''Cut! Cut! This is embarrassing." It was overall an interesting experience.
Here I have attached the 5 videos of people I interviewed:
Hi Lillie,
ReplyDeleteGreat job on all of your interviews. I would definitely use your new product of a universal, or slinky like charging cord because mine always breaks. The charging cords from Apple do not last very long, they break very easily, and you can't bend them a lot. Hi Lillie. I enjoyed your interviews and your product idea. The slinky idea was best. It reminded me a little of my hose that expands when you turn the water on and shrinks up after you turn the water off. It is easy to store away and compact, no need to roll it up.
ReplyDeleteLillie, your interviews were great! I think you identified a problem that has definitely bothered me before. I think your slinky idea was brilliant, kind of like a corded telephone is what I got from it. Anyways heres a link to my blog if you are interested in reading or checking it out http://ufstudentpost.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteLillie, you did a really good job on this project and it was a pleasure to read and watch. I completely agree with you that charging cords are a pain and I often find myself spending way too much money constantly replacing an item that should not break so easily. Its amazing how many people in the world today use apple products and it is almost free money for them when people are buying new chargers every couple of months. Overall a great job!
